Dear Grant Families:

Welcome to the 2025-2026 academic year! I’m excited for the upcoming school year, as we partner in supporting your child's educational progress.  Grant’s staff is focused on our mission of growing greatness within each student, and is committed to providing a caring, inclusive, and safe learning environment.  We are looking forward to making connections, building relationships, and engaging in meaningful learning with your child.  Grant Elementary School is a dynamic place with amazing students, supportive families, and dedicated staff where we accomplish more by working together.

Please read on for important “start of year” information. This information is being sent via email only.  Most school updates will be sent via email/Infinite Campus this year. If you are not receiving district and school emails, please update and submit your information in Infinite Campus. This requires a yearly update from you. This can be accessed through the Lakewood City Schools website. If you require assistance, please do not hesitate to contact our school office.

School Bell Schedule (NEW school day start time of 8:55 am and new ending time):

8:30 Breakfast begins (line closes at 8:45)

8:45 Drop off time - All students can enter the building/classrooms

8:50 Morning announcements

8:55 Tardy bell rings, class begins

Children who arrive at school after 8:55 am are late, and must enter the building through the main entrance doors (#1) facing the parking lot and report to the school office.  They will be given a tardy slip and sent to class.

Arrival at 8:45 am:

  • Walkers/Bike Riders: Arrive at 8:45 am (see below for both arrival and dismissal door assignments)

    • KDG Students: Always use door #9 in the courtyard off Victoria Ave. (both arrival and dismissal for KDG walkers/bikers)

    • Grades 1-5: Use either door #9 (courtyard, off Victoria Ave.) or door #2

  • Car riders: Arrive at 8:45 am and enter door #2 (please pull all the way up to the stop sign and then drop your child there to keep students safe and to keep the flow of cars moving along)

  • Children who arrive at school after 8:55 a.m. must enter the building through the main entrance doors facing the parking lot and report to the school office.  They will be given a tardy slip and sent to class.

Dismissal - Walkers/Bike Riders at 3:15 pm:

  • KDG Students: Always use door #9 in the courtyard off Victoria Ave. (both arrival and dismissal for KDG walkers/bikers)

  • Grades 1-5: Use either door #9 (courtyard, off Victoria Ave.) or door #11 for dismissal (door #11 will only be used in the afternoon)

Dismissal - Car Riders:

  • Please always notify your child’s teacher of any dismissal changes in advance. If you have a change in dismissal routine after the school day has begun, please call the office by 2:00 pm to help us plan for a safe and efficient dismissal.

  • Car riders will wait in the gym until called out to their car from door #3. Please use the car name tag (provided at the Open House) for our car identification process each day. For safety reasons, we will only load students on the passenger side of the vehicle only. If you will be exiting your car to buckle your child, please pull off to the side lot near door #3 to safely buckle your child.

  • Thank you for helping us provide a safe driver line for drop-off and pick-up areas. Please pull all the way up to the stop sign (or the car just in front of you) when dropping off or picking up your child.  Stopping right by the doors or before you reach the stop sign causes other cars to try to go around you, potentially causing unsafe situations for our students.

Children are expected to leave school property upon dismissal and go directly home unless they are involved in a school-sponsored activity/club. Students may not enter the playground area without their parent/guardian after school.

School Supplies: Supply lists are posted on Grant’s website. Students will also need to bring a water bottle daily (non-glass bottles, please). Please label all of your student’s belongings each day.

Medications: If your child needs medication administered during the school day, a parent must bring in the medication and a completed authorization form on the first day of school. The form can be found on the Lakewood City Schools website. Click on “Forms” and select the appropriate form (for prescribed medication, EpiPen, and/or inhaler). For further information, please visit the district website, Click on “Departments” and select “Health Services” or contact our school office.

Breakfast and Lunch: Breakfast is available at 8:30 am each morning (use door #8).  Menus for breakfast and lunch can be found on the Lakewood City Schools Nutrition Services website. All families should complete the Free and Reduced Lunch application found at the same site listed above for Nutrition Services.

Communications and Permissions in Infinite Campus:  Please be sure to update permissions and contact information for the 2025-26 school year, through the Parent Portal in Infinite Campus. School and district updates will continue to be sent regularly via email.

Absence Line: Please call 216-529-4302 to report absences right away. This will help to keep our office line open for other needs. You can call this number and leave a message 24/7.

School Safety Tip Line: The Safer Ohio School Tip Line is a free safety resource available to all Ohio schools. The tip line is an anonymous reporting system that accepts both calls and texts 24 hours a day. Calls or texts to 844-SaferOH (844-723-3764) are answered by analysts within Ohio Homeland Security. We encourage everyone in our community to use this tip line if they hear or see something suspicious or unusual. #SpeakUpSaveLives

We are ready for a spectacular school year together where every student thrives academically, emotionally and socially.  Should you have any questions or need anything across the year, please feel free to contact me by phone at 216-529-4217 or by email at christine.foote@lakewoodcityschools.org.
